The project to preserve the testimony of major figures in the monetary history of the second half of the 20th century and the implementation of the euro. These witnesses combine academic careers with those of political decision-makers.

The aim of the project is to interview architects of the euro in order to understand their deepest motivations, placing their actions in the context of their personal history and the political context of the time.

Needs addressed

The aim of the project is :
- to understand the personal, intellectual and moral motivations behind their commitment as policy makers
- to measure the stakes and influences involved in the construction of the euro and its subsequent developments
- to complete - from a different angle - the interviews conducted as part of the history of the European Commission.

Expected results

These interviews will be reworked and published in the form of articles or books aimed at a teaching or research audience.
