The MaRePI (Management Responsable Paradoxes Infirmiers) project is part of two Hautes Ecoles: one in Management (ICHEC Brussels Management School) and the other in Nursing (Hénallux). The project focuses on nursing management practices facing the challenges of sustainable development, and in particular the paradoxes associated with it. The nursing sector, considered here as a critical case, has long been recognized for the paradoxes that run through it. The research question concerns the identification of nursing management practices that can cope with the paradoxes experienced. To answer this question, the project empirically explores the dynamics at work in paradoxical situations, using a qualitative approach. The approach is contextualized and takes into account the gendered dimension of these practices, the importance of which has been highlighted in previous work, both in terms of management apprehension in the context of sustainability, and in terms of care decisions. In addition to producing knowledge that will enable us to better understand the characteristics of responsible management practices, the aim is to provide managerial training, both in management schools and in nursing training courses, with the knowledge and skills (of a non-technical nature in this case) that are essential for responsible management.
